Spring 2011
You are all hopefully aware that the club lost one of its staunchest supporters and founder member in the last few weeks. Frank Seymour’s commitment to the club over the years cannot be over stated. Not only did he help find many of the flying sites over the years, transport and use the mower, he provided a solid consistent base from which the club has grown. For the club to loose Frank so soon after another of the clubs stalwarts, Mick Hannant is a big blow. We will be looking for suggestions for how the club can mark their passing and suitably acknowledge their considerable contribution over the years.
This Sunday 24th April we will be holding the Easter fun day. There will be the usual egg hunt for the children as well as a barbeque. If the wind conditions allow we will try some pylon racing again.
2-Day Event
This years the fly in weekend is the 11/12th June. This event will be different in that we are not having any competitions on Sunday. This means both days are open for all comers to fly. In addition we have arranged for the Flying Wings Company to attend on the Saturday to show and sell their products. The idea is that you will be able to buy, build and fly a flying wing all on one day. We will use the clubs marquee as the building area and the new generator will provide ample power onsite for recharging lipos. Details of their products are available on the website  So you can see what you would need to have with you to build a model. There are a few of these wings in the club and they are great fun to fly. Their foam construction making them very robust if not for the faint hearted.
More details of this event and others later in the year will be published, as they become known.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at both events. Any suggestions for the first item contact me or any other committee member.
